Cheerful Chickie Cookie Pops

These happy little chicks  are made from golden sandwich cookies filled with lemon icing and dipped in yellow tinted white chocolate.
To keep the stick inside the cookie, I separated the cookie layers, dipped a lollipop stick in melted chocolate and placed it on the cream side of the cookie,
surrounded it with lemon icing, and then put the cookie layers back together.
Then I let the cookies set in the freezer for a few minutes.
After the sticks were firmly in place, I dipped the whole cookie in the yellow melting chocolate and topped it off with a quick dip into yellow sprinkles.
The faces, feet and wings are drawn on with piping gel.
Cheerful, lemony, sweet, cookie goodness.

Through the Eyes of a Child

Rowan, my sweet, adventurous 5 year old, was given a gift certificate for Christmas.  He decided to buy a "grown-up" camera with it (Yes, Target has one for under $20!).  He has been composing shots and snapping away ever since.  He keeps the camera in a little case clipped to his waist band and takes it everywhere he goes.  Here is a selection of his "work" so far...

Thank you, Grandma ♥

Little Monkey Pants

I have finally gotten around to sewing a pair of pants for my cuties.
I saw this FREE pattern and tutorial by the infamous Dana at Dana Made It and I couldn't wait to try it.
Well, I did wait...and I did other projects first, and I procrastinated, and I was just plain lazy sometimes...
But, then, once upon a nap time, I whipped out my sewing machine and some super cute plaid fabric and all of that changed.
I printed the pattern, cut the fabric and sewed the pants (except for the pocket and bottom hem) all in one naptime!  Wow!  The credit for this feat definitely goes to the simple pattern and easy to follow tutorial - not to my slightly-better-than-mediocre sewing skills.
I added a side pocket (big enough to fit the toy phones that A & Z are constantly carrying around).
And I finished the hem with an elastic band.  I am loving that look for boys lately.
I also sewed on this cute little tag that I found in a craft store (hence the name "Little Monkey Pants").
Now all I need is another good naptime so I can sew a second pair.  Then my cuties can stop fighting over who is going to wear these!

PS - (for our Grandmas, Aunties and anyone else who is interested) Avery is the model in these photos.  Couldn't you tell?
